THE PATIENT'S PROFILE 病人简介 The present case is of interest from the point of view of the patient's pattern of illness. When I first came to know her, she was about thirty. She had a long history of recurrent hospital admissions, extending over a period of about seven years. She carried a diagnosis of chronic paranoid schizophrenia, but her chronicity was by no means burnt out in any sense. Her episodes of decompensation were marked by intense anger and resentment which led her to readily and frequently lash out at her persecutors and physically attack them. Although her illness had extended over a period of several years, her interaction with her therapists and with others was full of lively feeling and responsiveness. The pattern of her illness was more one of recurrent episodes of relatively acute decompensation interspersed with periods of remission.
