Early Dependence 早期依赖 Jimmy was clearly the baby of the family. His mother tended to be obsessively controlling, overly anxious in her mothering, overly solicitous and overly protective. He was toilet trained early, and this was apparently a matter of importance for mother, as well as a measure of her capacity and performance. In general he seems to have been rather close to her in these early years and quite dependent. He recalled an occasion in these years when his parents decided to go away for a brief vacation. They left without preparing him—obviously apprehensive over his response—and arrangements were made for him to stay in a nursery while they were away. As soon as he realized what was happening, he started screaming and sobbing incessantly.
