Termination
结束
To complete the clinical picture of this patient and to close the story, let me say that her therapy was concluded by mutual agreement. She had done increasingly well and for some months had been quite symptom-free. She was leading a relatively normal and well-adjusted life. Finally she met a young man, became quite fond of him and decided to live with him. This required moving to another city. We terminated with the understanding that she might find it necessary or advisable to seek treatment in the future, but that her prospects for the moment seemed optimistic. She was happy at the turn of events in her life—felt confident in her ability to deal with her feelings, particularly her anger, and seemed hopeful that things had finally taken a positive turn for her. She saw clearly that the positive turn was within her power to accomplish and to continue.
