Paranoid Construction 偏执建构 In the reworking of adolescent adjustments and relationships, however, the construction takes on new richer and considerably broader implications. This aspect of the shaping and sustaining of a sense of identity is what we have referred to as the "paranoid construction." We emphasize here that it is a necessary and integral part of the emergence of a sense of identity which assumes particular and significant dimensions in the adolescent experience. In significant ways, then, the paranoid construction provides a context within which the residual projections which are elaborated within the adolescent phase can be absorbed and integrated to provide the psychological context within which the emerging sense of identity can function and to which it can relate itself in meaningful ways.
